Donations made to Immigrant Action Alliance allow us to provide direct support to our immigrant community and people in ICE detention centers throughout Florida.
This direct support includes:
- Phone time. A 15-minute call from an immigrant detention center can cost up to $13! We provide dozens of people in ICE detention with funds each week so that they can make phone calls home to their family, friends, and attorneys.
- Books. We send hundreds of books each year to people in ICE detention. Having current and interesting reading material is essential to easing boredom, frustration, and loneliness, especially for men and women held in solitary confinement.
- Post-Release Support. When our friends are released from detention, we have the honor of meeting with them to provide them with travel money, a temporary cell phone, clothing, food, and bus or airfare home to their family or friends. For our friends who are deported, we provide a duffel bag of clothing and shoes as well as money for food and expenses upon returning to their country of birth.
